I just gotta say this real quick…
Tearing down shows in the comment section just because they’re not your personal pick is not cool, guys.
There’s a vote. That’s literally the point of the vote.
So when a show wins, what is actually achieved by commenting something negative about the winning selection?
Like, I get being disappointed. Everybody has shows they wanted to win. But if the only thing you add is bad energy toward the show that won, it doesn’t make more people want to collaborate with you for your pick. If anything, it pushes people away from your side.
If you want your show to win,
hype it up.
Make people curious. Tell them why it’s special. Talk about the characters, the chemistry, the story, the emotions, the chaos, whatever makes it worth watching.
That brings fans.
But when you attack another show, all you really do is bring out that show’s defenders, and now your side looks negative instead of passionate.
To be clear, I’m not saying you have to like every show. You don’t. You can dislike something. You can even say it’s not for you.
But there’s a difference between saying, “This one isn’t really my taste,” and making the whole comment section feel toxic because your pick didn’t win.
And I’m gonna be honest…
I’m genuinely more interested in
True Beauty
now strictly because of how negative I saw some people being toward it.
That kind of thing makes me curious.
But at the same time, I also don’t want to react to a show if the whole aura around it is just negativity, fighting, and people trying to make other fans feel bad for liking it.
I don’t want that kind of aura around a reaction.
Some of the shows I’ve gotten interested in —
Royal Nemesis
,
Filing For Love
, and a few other K-dramas I’ve mentioned during votes — came from community hype in the chatroom.
Not people attacking other shows.
People just made their show sound fun. They made it feel like something the community should experience.
Right now, I’m interested in
A Korean Odyssey
.
Why?
Because there’s a member in the chat who seems fun, positive, and genuinely passionate about it. So if I ever see that show in a top 5 scenario, there’s a high chance I’d advocate for it.
That’s the part people miss.
People are more likely to advocate for positive fans.
When your energy is fun, people want to join you. When your energy is negative, you mostly attract other negative people, and eventually everyone else starts distancing themselves from that corner.
So yeah, if you want your show to win, don’t just complain.
Campaign for it.
Make it look fun to be on your side.
Anyways, that’s my TED Talk. 😂
