TLDR: This poll is to determine which show to TRY OUT. I will watch some large "chunk" of whichever show wins, and then reassess down the road. There's something about this poll that is hilarious to me. Just looking at it makes me laugh. But also this is a crazy experience for me cause I never expected an anime poll to bring me this close to facing my own mortality . It's also crazy to think that this is a day I always knew would come, and now we're here. But I'm overdoing it. Anyway, though the poll is simple, I think there are a lot of details to fill in: Thanks to everyone for the feedback about this choice. It was really helpful. My ultimate takeaway, aside from the logistical decision to take the show in chunks, was the feeling that it's a win-win situation either way . What makes the most sense to me is to not outright decide on either show in full, but rather to commit to predetermined sections . This has the benefit of serving as an introduction to either show, making them less daunting, and also allowing for breaks in between arcs if other shows make more sense at that time. As for what those "sections" would be, I think that would make sense to hash out later, but I'm confident it could be made to fit into "normal" show length relative to other poll winners in the past, for example some chunk between 60 - 150 episodes (Avatar - Hunter x Hunter), based on established arcs or other markers. Feel free to recommend what that length might be for either, as I am going in totally blind. While both will probably be on the "channel" for quite some time, there is plenty of flexibility around how fast I go through the episodes, and this can be adjusted based on what else is going on. I won't exclusively do either show. There will always be a place for shows like Run with the Wind, to take a recent example, even if it takes a while to watch them all. Time suddenly became so real! I think that was the weird subconscious block about all this. But putting that aside, I do want to do BOTH shows somehow. So a choice for one isn't a permanent vote against the other. For One Piece, I don't think I'll watch One Pace, I'd rather watch it as it aired. For either, I would prefer to watch everything produced and adjust to pacing and filler issues in other ways, for example abridged compilations or summaries. For the One Piece remake, I can also watch it as it comes out (I'm guessing weekly) in February, whether or not it wins the poll. If One Piece does win the poll, one benefit is that I'll actually be able to compare the two. Other non-poll notes: I am basically settled on Oregairu to "replace" Run with the Wind. I would like to find a way to fit Witch Hat Atelier in the schedule but I'm not sure yet. Daemons of the Shadow Realm resuming this week. Thank you for reading and / or for your input!
